Review Of Novotel Nusa Dua (2024 Guide)

Looking to read a genuine review of Novotel Nusa Dua?

Before we look at our review of Novotel Nusa Dua, let us talk a little about Bali, Indonesia. Indonesia is one of the top countries to visit in 2019, a beautiful country of islands that should be on your list for your next vacation.

Today we will focus on Bali, Indonesia. Bali is one of the most popular destinations in the world, and the ultimate picturesque vacation whether it’s travelling solo or in a group, is the perfect location for that family trip!

One of the well-known areas to stay in Bali is Nusa Dua. Nusa Dua is in the southern part of Bali, home to many luxurious hotels and accommodations. Here we will be writing about our experience on our stay in Nusa Dua at the ever-popular Novotel Hotel.

We chose to stay at the Novotel Hotel in Nusa Dua as it’s known to be a family-friendly hotel, located in a convenient location in a securely gated area among other luxurious hotels. The moment you arrive at the hotel you are warmly greeted by their staff as you are received at the main entrance.

The walk up to reception is very pleasant walking past fish ponds at the sound of the water features. The lobby area is set in a beautiful Balinese setting with luscious plants and fish ponds looking out onto the stunning landscape of the hotel, immediately feeling you’re in paradise.

If you need a car to explore Bali, you can hire a private driver. You can check the price for a private driver here.

One-Bedroom Suite

Checking in was quick and smooth, guests are welcomed with a complimentary drink of tamarind juice and then taken to their rooms. We booked a one-bedroom suite with a large balcony accessible from the living room and bedroom, overlooking the lagoon-style pool.

The 92 square meters room includes a choice of a twin bed or king bed, kitchen, dining, and large living space. The rooms are clean and well furnished.

The only thing I can comment on is the bathrooms are outdated, especially in the one-bedroom suites. We found our bathroom quite old and mouldy. These rooms are also available for upgrades but do check with reception staff first.

Two-Bedroom Suite

We were fortunate to be upgraded to a 130 square meters two bedroom suite in a beautiful private area of the hotel, thanks to the duty manager and his team. That was an amazing treat that made our stay that extra more comfortable.

The suite is perfect for families, the rooms are big and spacey each with an attached ensuite (a deep bathtub in the main bedroom’s ensuite), kitchen, dining, and living area.

The bathrooms in the two-bedroom suite were much bigger compared to the one-bedroom suite with more modern features (certain areas of the bathroom did look slightly old but overall good). The balcony is a good size that was accessible from the living area and bedroom, perfect to sit outside and enjoy the scenery of the hotel.

Nusa Dua Novotel Breakfast

Breakfast was included in our package with a buffet-style breakfast served each day (one of the benefits of staying in a hotel) in their Balinese style dining restaurant at The Square.

The Square includes indoor and outdoor seating, surrounded by beautiful gardens with a view of the swimming pool. There was a great selection of food from Western, Asian and local cuisines. Each day the menu changed so we were eating something different every day.

Eggs were cooked fresh at your request, do expect a slight delay as the egg station did get crowded. Pastries and freshly cooked pancakes were available every day along with fresh-cut fruits, a salad bar, cereals, and yoghurt.

There’s a coffee machine available at either end of the dining hall to get your latte/cappuccino fix and also a good selection of fresh juice (our favourite was the freshly made watermelon juice). All the restaurant staff was very friendly and helpful which made our breakfast dining experience very enjoyable!

In addition to the amazing rooms, the Novotel offers an extensive list of amenities that will make your stay all the more relaxing. The hotel has a poolside bar, lagoon-style pool, fitness center, cafe, spa services, lounge, and room services.

For families visiting with young children, free children’s club is available with activities planned throughout the day every day. The playground area is also available on-site next to the kids club.

For those travelling on business, the Novotel offers meeting rooms, a business center, conferences, and free internet.

The hotel is conveniently located for us, especially with kids, a short walking distance to shops, restaurants, cafes and massage salons on Jl. Pantai Mengiat road.

Also, the beach is located close to the hotel, a shuttle bus is available to transport guests to the beach club every 15 minutes which only takes 2 minutes. Bus services are available from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. We preferred to walk as it was only 5-7 minutes to the beach. Food and drinks are available at the beach club.

There are sun lounges and bed so make sure to get there early and grab a spot. Beach towels are also available so no need to carry your own there. Just a point to note about the beach. The hotel is not exactly located along the beach as most of the hotels are in Nusa Dua.

When we booked our accommodation, we did notice a picture of the beach assuming that the hotel was right on the beach however once we got there we came to know there were shuttle services to the beach.

For us, we would have liked the beach to be seen from the hotel but that was not an issue as it was a short walk from the hotel.

Shops and Food in Nusa Dua

The hotel is also close to the famous shopping and dining complex known as Bali Collection. Free shuttle buses take you to Bali Collection and back to the hotel. The shuttle bus runs every hour. If you do miss the shuttle, not to worry, it is a 10-15 minute walk one way to Bali Collection or back to the hotel.

Here you will find a great selection of shops, department stores, restaurants, and convenience stores mainly catering to tourists. This is the place to be for a great meal and shopping, the ambience is lively here and very enjoyable especially during the evenings.

If you do miss the shuttle bus back to the hotel, as mentioned above, it is only a 10-15 minutes walk which is a nice walk passing neighbouring hotels and beautiful statues of Hindu Gods.

Overall our stay in Novotel Nusa Dua was very pleasant and relaxing. We were looked after by the hotel staff right till the end. The management team was wonderful, allowing us to stay extra after our 12 pm checkout from the two-bedroom suite.

We were moved into a one-bedroom suite for a later checkout knowing that our flight back home was scheduled late at night. We couldn’t be more thankful for their kind hospitality and making our stay that extra more comfortable.
