Visit the Monkey Forest

The story of “Monkey Forest” is one of the most famous things in Bali. It has been well known in the tourist community. Here we will tell you more about the “Monkey Forest”. This story will be a perfect way to help your kids to feel the Bali-languor.

Monkey forest in Bali – A message of concern from PETA In the early 80s the Bali forestry tried to set up the Chinese rubber plantations in a jungle area, where the wild animals like the Monkeys, the Jungle Fowl lived.

The plan was to build a factory in this jungle to export rubber to Singapore. The animals were protected but in a bad way. Their living conditions were the worse. Their food, their daily routine were changed. The Monkey Forest became a type of zoo. All the monkeys, the Jungle Fowl were locked in cages.

Monkey forest in Bali is the best and safe way to experience this protected rain forest in the capital of Bali. There are many cafes and food joints, vegetable and fruit gardens and markets, tea shops and many walking tracks and creeks, and the amazing Bintang-Lining Pig, all in the monkey forest, made up of mixed species of monkeys and people.

Monkey forest – at the heart of Ubud Monkey forest has opened the way for tourism in Bali. You will find that the rest of Bali has evolved with new facilities and construction of resorts, like the natural architecture, charms and cultural and religious offerings. Ubud, however, is still a vibrant village, the cultural heart of Bali. The Monkey Forest has been a place of cultural exchange and social meetings for centuries.

This is a special jungle in the middle of a city. This jungle that is more than 20 hectares of land has over 6,000 orangutans. This is more than 6,000 (and the expected 10,000 by 2030) orangutans that live in the forest.

They all seem to be attached to humans. They love to run through the urban forest and get a little bit of exercise in between. There is a lot of food in this forest. Even though they are close to humans, these animals still have to be fed to survive. The animals that they feed have a rich and varied diet. Some of the favourites are bananas, sugarcane, and mangos. They also eat bird eggs, insects, and honey. That includes the baby orangutans as well. The young ones always need lots of care.

If you are planning to visit the Monkey Forest with kids, please stay alert. Some of these monkeys can cheeky and they may snatch your belonging. So hold on tight to your valuables when you are in the forest.

Take a cooking class with family

There’s no denying that Bali is a world-class destination for people who like to travel with their families. It has great offerings for those looking for dining options for kids as well as locations for children to get some schooling. Once you take a look at all the top resort, cultural, family, and kids activities in Bali, you’ll easily find out why families are making a trip to Bali, no matter if you’re travelling alone or with friends.

One of the cooking classes (part of Hotel Asa’s culinary program) is simple cooking classes. Kids take a cooking class in the morning and then in the afternoon they learn to create their own recipes by following a list of ingredients to be found at the market.

The first day of classes, the children are taught how to make miso soup, egg custard, and rice cakes. After each day, parents can visit a shop at the Balinese market to purchase all of the ingredients that were used in their recipes for home cooking.

There are many local street food markets in Bali, including Nusa Dua Market and Padangbai Market. These local markets and their stalls are always full of spices, fresh produce and creative cooking ingredients for the food you would get at a home cooking class.

Cooking classes are a fun way for kids to appreciate food and the time it takes for parents to prepare meals for them.
