1. Tukad Cepung

Tukad Cepung is one of the most instagrammable waterfalls in Bali located just outside Ubud. The waterfall is hidden in rocks, next to a little temple. Be prepared to wait in a long queue if you wish to take a photo.

And if you are lucky enough, you might be able to catch the sun rays shining at the top of the waterfall. It is also the biggest cave waterfall in Bali.

Can you swim: Yes, it doesn’t have a deep pool and is perfect for a relaxing wild swim

2. Tibumana (Air Terjun Tibumana)

Tibumana waterfall is hidden deep in a jungle and is located relatively close to Ubud. It is famous for its natural beauty and a large variety of butterflies and birds.

Before the entrance to the waterfall, you can wander around a small temple. Don’t forget to wear appropriate clothes if you decide to visit the temple.

3. Sekumpul

Sekumpul waterfall is located in North Bali and the main falls stand 80 m tall, making it one of the most impressive waterfalls on the island as well as one of the biggest waterfalls in Bali.

It is known for its great viewing points and steep hiking trail. Also, Sekumpul belongs to the waterfalls complex of Buleleng, so you can visit several waterfalls in one go.

4. Gitgit

Located in North Bali and is the most famous waterfall on the island. Gitgit waterfall is also known as ‘twin waterfalls’ as its flow splits into two streams.

Also, it is a popular spot for taking stunning photos. Be aware that the waterfall gets crowded, so arrive early or just before closing to avoid tourist groups.

5. Nungnung

Nungnung waterfall is located in the centre of Bali and is easily reachable from major towns. You will have to climb 509 steps to reach the waterfall, surrounded by lush mountains, but it is definitely worth it. Bring water bottles to stay hydrated as well as light snacks to keep you going. 

Can you swim: Swimming is allowed, however, be aware that water is very cold and powerful. It is not advised to swim if you aren’t a strong swimmer

6. Padang Bulia (Wana Ayu)

Padang Bulia waterfall is locally known as Wana Ayu waterfall located in the remote small village of Padang Bulia.

It is mainly filled with locals swimming in the pool and you can easily avoid noisy tourist groups. The waterfall is 35 metres tall and showcases a magnificent view from the top. 

Can you swim: You are welcome to take a dip in a pool with locals.

7. Tegenungan Waterfall

Tegenungan waterfall is easily reachable from Ubud and is one of the main waterfalls around the area. It is famous for stony paths, powerful cascading water and always green valley. Tegenungan is a popular location for wild swimming and bird watching.

It is 25 metres tall, making it a great location for photoshoots. The waterfall has two names depending on the village where you are coming from: if you are coming from Tegenungan village – fall name is Tegenungan, and if you are coming from Blangsinga village – waterfall name is Blangsinga.

8. Kanto Lampo

Kanto Lampo is a hidden gem in a jungle close to Ubud. It is not a very well known waterfall so you will never find big crowds by the entrance and most likely will have a pool for yourself.

The best way to view the real beauty of the waterfall is to go inside the river, so don’t forget to bring water shoes or slides as the river is quite stony. 

Can you swim: You can swim in a pool, however, there is not much space

9. Aling Aling

Aling Aling waterfall sits on the grounds of the secret gardens of Sambangan next to other smaller waterfalls. It is an ideal spot for adrenaline seekers as it has the possibility to jump through the waterfall streams.

To fully enjoy Aling Aling, make sure you book a guided tour by the entrance and experience a thrilling jump into ice-cold water.

10. Dusun Kuning (Yellow Waterfall)

Dusun Kuning is located in a small Garden Village, relatively close to Bangli city. The waterfall is 20 metres tall and is hidden deep inside the jungle, so expect a very tranquil atmosphere without the noise of tourists.

Dusun Kuning is surrounded by beautiful nature that makes your photos look even better.

11. Peguyangan Waterfall on Nusa Penida

This waterfall isn’t as known as other spots on the island, but it’s definitely worth a visit. It is best known for its blue stairs leading down the cliff where you are able to find a sacred temple.

Also, at the bottom, you will find one of the best rock pools in Bali.

12. Pengempu

Pengempu waterfall is another hidden gem of Bali that is usually missed on the way to Tabanan. Due to its secluded location, the waterfall is still very quiet and tranquil as it’s not included in the main tours.

Pengempu waterfall is surrounded by two cliffs, tall trees, and unspoiled nature. You can enjoy the sound of powerful water and birds singing.

13. Munduk

Munduk waterfall is locally known as the most scenic waterfall in Bali. It is located in North Bali, within a little village of Munduk in Buleleng. The waterfall consists of 3 smaller waterfalls: Laangan Melanting, Red Coral and Golden Valley waterfall.

Munduk waterfall site is located 850 metres above sea level meaning that you will be able to enjoy stunning views too.

14. Banyumala Twin Waterfalls

Banyumala Twin Waterfalls are located in North Bali within Buleleng regency and known as ‘Paradise on Earth’. Twin waterfalls aren’t as crowded as other waterfalls located close by. The waterfalls are around 30-40 metres tall.

15. Leke Leke

This waterfall is located in the central Bali region and is one of Bali’s smallest and lesser-known waterfalls. It is located in between tall rocks covered in various types of plants.

The waterfall is dropping down into a small clear blue water pool that is inviting to swim in. Also, you will find a couple of rocks that make a great viewing platform. 

Can you swim: Yes, the pool is small and most likely you will have it all to yourself

16. Lemukih (Fiji Waterfall)

Lemukih waterfall is located in North Bali within the waterfalls complex. The waterfall can be also referred to as Fiji waterfall. It consists of three waterfalls: one is higher than the other two.

These three waterfalls are at different heights that make Lemukih more impressive. Also, it is the only triple waterfall on the island. It is usually missed and overlooked due to the famous Sekumpul waterfall located close by.

17. Les Waterfall

Les Waterfall is located within the small village of Les in Buleleng, close to other main stunning waterfalls. It is also known as Yeh Mampeh (‘Flying water’ in Balinese) waterfall by the locals, so you might be able to find directions under this name too.

The waterfall height is about 30 metres and is considered to be one of the tallest waterfalls in Bali. It is surrounded by green trees, rocks and caves. It is not yet very well known but becoming more and more popular among tourists visiting North Bali. 

Can you swim: A dip in the plunge pool is allowed, but be careful of the rocks

18. Sebatu

Sebatu waterfall is located in Gianyar regency, near Pura Dalem Pingit and Pura Kusi temples. The waterfall is considered to be one of the most sacred places in Bali.

It is hidden away in rocks, and thick bushes and you will need to walk on a slippery trail in order to reach a waterfall and temples. It is believed that Sebatu waterfall water purifies the mind and body, as well as, gives relaxation.

Can you swim: Swimming in the pool is allowed as a part of the ritual

19. Jembong

Jembong waterfall is located in Buleleng, close to the famous Gitgit waterfall and is usually overlooked by tour guides and tourists. The waterfall is located in the middle of the cacao plantation which makes it different from others.

Also, it has a small bridge that allows you to enjoy unique views of the waterfall, as well as, a heart-shaped pool that is becoming a popular location among the locals and tourists.

20. Blemantung

Blemantung waterfall is also known as Blahmantung waterfall, located in Tabanan region. It is more than 95 metres tall, making it the tallest waterfall in Bali.

Blemantung is tucked among the island’s coffee plantations and is usually overlooked by tourists as it is close to the majestic Munduk waterfalls complex.

Be prepared for a kilometre long and challenging walk to the waterfall through the rice paddies and coffee plantations.

Can you swim: The pool is deep enough for swimming, but be careful of rocks

21. Pucak Manik

Pucak Manik waterfall is close to Banyu Wana Amertha and Banyumala, and is a great place to visit if you wish to avoid tourist crowds. The trail to the waterfall is relatively easy leading you deep into the green jungle.

It has three streams and quite a large plunge pool where you can relax after the long trail.

Can you swim: Swimming is allowed in the plunge pool, however, it’s not very deep
